DFP prints special edition for Goldin crisis

Goldin, BU part ways, reports Jessica Warren:
"Daniel S. Goldin and Boston University agreed to part ways Friday, settling contract issues for about $2 million, according to a trustee, and clearing the way for the Board of Trustees to unanimously appoint School of Medicine Dean and Medical Campus Provost Aram V. Chobanian president ad interim..."
The Daily Free Press did a nice job the last week and a half, mainly on three counts: they're a daily, which is an immense help, they've got good people, and the event happened during the school year.
I remember lamenting when the Mass Media editorial board met in late August for the first time after the summer break, "The bastard [former UMass president Billy Bulger] couldn't have waited four weeks?!"
Boston Herald's Kevin Rothstein: "A new and uncertain era began yesterday at Boston University, a school headed by an interim president plucked from retirement and a board of trustees deeply shaken by the Daniel Goldin debacle.
Sources knowledgeable with the board's inner workings say no abrupt revolt is afoot over the mess trustees realize they brought on themselves..."
