New Mass Media
This week's Mass Media is up.
Interim Dean for the College of Public and Community Service was appointed the other week. Also in the article: 29 new faculty expected for next year. Twenty-three of those are to be brand-new positions...
More of the usual crazy student government stuff (with some crazy MassPIRG stuff thrown in for good measure).
MassPIRG makes the letters to the editors' page again. Says Duck Season's Nick, "I'm still unsure whether or not I support HB 2400, but I hope for once and for all I've settled the ridiculous notion of rights infringement."
Nick, you might want to look over at Framingham State, 'cause it looks like recent history's repeatin', as Shirley Bassey sang.
I've been told by several people on both sides that the UMB student senate's resolution is dead in the water. Seems my interview with State Representative Fagan had two effects: the people who support HB 2400 reaffirmed their beliefs, and the people who oppose HB 2400 think he's a raving lunatic (because of the "dog feces" comment"). The comment was used by MassPIRG to argue that Fagan is doing this because he wants to politically damage the organization, swinging several senators' minds.
Of course, nobody caught my little "Oliver!" shout out: "Fagan... sat down with The Mass Media to give a review of the situation."
You get it, folks? Fagan? From "Oliver!"? Sang a song called "Reviewing the Situation"?
Ah, forget it.
